The Military Funders is a funder collaboration that focuses on helping military and veteran families in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
Military Funders connects Catalyst members and cross sector partners to learn and explore ways to collectively support local active military personnel, veterans, and their families. Most recently focused on food and housing insecurity among veterans, the group began its collaborative funding helping with the difficult transition from active duty to civilian status.
The Military Funders are not currently meeting. However, Catalyst will continue to highlight the needs and opportunities within the military and veteran community.
- In early 2023, Catalyst will host Do the Work: Military, a deep dive into the issues raised at the 2021 conference in our conversation with Tim Ney of the Armed Services YMCA. This program invites you to an in-person learning experience that brings members, policy-makers, and community organizations together. You’ll begin with a look at the landscape of military-connected needs and existing solutions; then travel with a cohort of peers in to the field to see first-hand how the work is happening; and finally reconvene to dive into how to apply the lessons learned to your own strategies and giving.
- Do you know of something in the military-connected space that other funders should know? Consider planning a member-led program. You provide the speakers and Catalyst will support you with an announcement, RSVP management, and space (virtual or in person) to host the gathering. Contact Kamaal Martin for more information.
