Maria Peinado, MPA is a native of Imperial Valley who has directly worked to serve her community and understands the needs and culture of this unique area of Southern California. She is based in the city of El Centro and is excited about serving as a liaison for local foundations and non-profits and providing support to local organizations. Mrs. Peinado has a professional background in the establishment and maintenance of a public information program in a county department with demonstrated experience in crisis communications and community engagement.
Maria has dedicated over fifteen years to volunteering with the local Chapter of MANA de Imperial Valley, a national Latina organization, in a variety of Board positions including President and Scholarship Coordinator. Maria values civic engagement and serves on the El Centro Education Foundation Board of Directors and as Trustee and now recently elected as the 2024 Board President for the Central Union High School District. Working in public health during the COVID-19 pandemic, she witnessed the positive impact of non-profit organizations in vaccination and outreach efforts. After acquiring significant professional experience in local government, she sought opportunities with a non-profit with a growth and equity mindset.
Mrs. Peinado is a bilingual, first-generation college graduate and brings significant community engagement experience to Catalyst. She is passionate about supporting music education and performing arts initiatives, academic scholarships, advocating for the special needs community and social justice issues. Maria Peinado earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Professional Certificate in Healthcare Leadership from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University (SDSU). Maria is passionate about supporting music education and the performing arts, college pathways, advocating for the special needs community and social justice issues and enjoys spending time with her family and close friends.
