2023 Program Preview
Start Planning Your Year with Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties
This year, Catalyst events fall into four categories: Fundamentals, Do the Work, Stretch, and Topical. Take a look at what’s coming in each category to start planning your professional development, networking, and community building for the year.
Bonus: watch a quick video featuring Catalyst team members Kamaal and Aline explaining our program lineup.
Fundamentals
Catalyst is here for you on the foundational elements of philanthropy. These monthly sessions form the core of Catalyst’s regular programming and will ground you in philanthropy best practices, with a special focus on equity.
What You Can Expect:
- Equity in Grantmaking
- Form990 and Other Financial Documents: How much Info Do You Really Need?
Do the Work
You may remember some of our Do the Work series events from last year. These experiential learning opportunities center community lived experience and highlight local knowledge and expertise by taking participants directly into the communities we’re learning about. This year, we will continue with topics introduced in 2022, including Indigenous communities and Guaranteed Basic Income–immersing participants even deeper into the communities, individuals, and organizations across our region.
What You Can Expect:
- Discussion on Guaranteed Income with Khea Pollard from The Black Women’s Resilience Project
- Indigenous Communities Volunteer Day
Stretch
What is happening in philanthropy, and how can we remain at the cutting edge of best practices? The Stretch series will push our boundaries on critical, and sometimes controversial, practices in the philanthropic sector. Through three core programs held throughout the year, this series will expand our collective knowledge and understanding to encourage robust dialogue, healthy dissent, and new understanding around how we approach social impact work.
What You Can Expect:
- Bold Action and Small Foundations
- What Does Power-Building Actually Look Like?
Topical
There’s a lot happening in San Diego & Imperial Counties. Responding to emerging local needs can seem daunting on top of all the work you are already doing. Luckily, the Catalyst community of practice is here to help you stay tuned in to what’s going in our region. Topical events will get you updated on relevant and timely issues and provide opportunities for community-building around cross-sector collaboration..
What You Can Expect:
- Health Disparities and Inequality in Imperial Valley
- Data and Evaluation
Whether you are an experienced grantmaker or new to the sector and looking to expand your base of knowledge, there is something at Catalyst for you. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s upcoming events!
