Join us for an important, two-part conversation on the work of California funders and partners to protect and preserve California’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal. In part one, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from national partner Grantmakers In Health and from statewide foundations who have been engaged in policy advocacy at the state and federal levels. Speakers will share where federal policy stands currently, impacts on California’s state budget, and how major funders have responded thus far.

Funders can expect to leave these two sessions with a stronger sense of the current political landscape, key philanthropic response strategies, and ways their foundation may contribute to ensuring all Californians have access to health care services for years to come.

Goals:

  • Funders are briefed on current policy at the federal level, the impacts on California’s state budget, and how major funders have responded in the first part of the year.
  • Funders are aware of the potential impacts on the communities they serve, and how to take action.
  • Funders are better connected with one another and aligned on their strategies and response efforts.

Target Audience

This program is open to members of Catalyst, Northern California Grantmakers, Southern California Grantmakers, and eligible non-members.
