Join us for a learning session in which you will engage with leaders in the philanthropic sector in California about innovative ways in which our sector works with government to address our communities most pressing problems. We will highlight key examples from our portfolios and invite participants to explore what is next to strengthen these relationships further.

Session 2: Government and Philanthropy Partnering for an Equitable Recovery

Friday, June 11th, 2021 | 12:00 PM – 12:45 PM PST

In California, the coronavirus pandemic has taken over 50,000 lives and placed many others in economic peril, compounding many of the structural problems our state already faced. Californian’s living in challenging circumstances were disproportionally affected by the pandemic, especially minority communities, women, and those already experiencing poverty. Corporate and philanthropic contributions totaling $3.9 billion, not only leveraged public funding but created impact in areas such as housing, climate change, education, food security, and employment. Philanthropy California looks forward to meeting with state elected officials to discuss how philanthropy can partner with government to reimagine and innovate solutions that lead to meaningful, measurable changes that focus on equitable recovery.
