Leadership When It Matters Most: A Conversation with Breakthrough California Leaders
Friday, April 23, 2021 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Join the James Irvine Foundation for a conversation with Leadership Awards alumni – followed by a keynote address from Senior Advisor on Social Innovation for Governor Gavin Newsom, Kathleen Kelly Janus
The James Irvine Foundation and USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy are hosting a one-hour virtual event featuring alumni of Irvine’s Leadership Awards. After brief remarks provided by representatives from Irvine and USC Schwarzenegger Institute, three nonprofit leaders will join Emmy Award winning television journalist Alex Cohen in a wide-ranging conversation about leadership and innovation during a crisis, and the key challenges and opportunities for California’s response and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The conversation will be followed by a keynote address from the Senior Advisor on Social Innovation to Governor Gavin Newsom, Kathleen Kelly Janus.
This event is a part of a larger effort, “Leadership When It Matters Most,” that spotlights Leadership Awards alumni who have pivoted to address the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges. By highlighting the work and ideas of these leaders, Irvine hopes to help our peers in philanthropy learn about and advance effective solutions in six issue areas: education, the environment, health, human services, public safety, and workforce and economic development.
