Join us for the first session of the Imperial Valley Nonprofit Board Leadership Series, presented by the Imperial Valley Community Foundation and Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties.
During this session, we will discuss board roles, duties, and responsibilities. Participants will be provided with essential insights into the core responsibilities and legal duties of nonprofit board members, including governance, fiduciary duties, administrative oversight, and funder expectations. We will also explore the importance of a mission-focused approach, healthy term cycles, and how diversity, inclusion, and equity within your board can establish trust and enhance effectiveness.
Objectives:
- Gain a clear understanding of the fundamental responsibilities of nonprofit boards.
- Learn about the various types of nonprofits (charitable, nonprofits, and trade
associations). - Recognize the critical role of board members in supporting the organization’s mission.
- Understand the legal obligations of board members.
- Appreciate the importance of board diversity, inclusion, and equity.
