Funding the Evidence: Building the Economic Record as a Strategy toward Economic Justice
Wednesday, February 25 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
So-called immigration enforcement systematically strips wealth from communities, shutters businesses, and destabilizes local economies. Yet, the economic dimensions of this economic violence remain largely invisible. Los Angeles small business owners, entrepreneurs, and workers are feeling this effect firsthand. Local leaders are responding with innovative approaches to capturing economic harm—combining quantitative spatial data on foot traffic and mobility patterns with qualitative narratives from small business owners affected by ICE enforcement.
This webinar brings together funders, researchers, and community development leaders to explore why documenting economic harm is essential for economic justice and why philanthropic investment in this reparative infrastructure cannot wait. Together, we’ll explore the concrete work of capturing economic harm—building the evidence base that future litigation, policy change, and reparative actions require to advance economic mobility and economic justice.
Join the conversation on what it means to fund documentation as a strategic investment in future economic justice.
