Discover the intersection of creativity, action, and impact on September 19, when Public Impact Day will take place in two Balboa Park locations, the Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art and the Mingei International Museum.

Far South/Border North has pioneered a unique approach to supporting artists and cultural practitioners in creating media, outreach, and engagement campaigns focused on a diverse range of today’s most pressing issues, from public health to social justice, civic engagement, and climate mitigation. Each artist has identified a distinct issue area and led a public messaging campaign, showcasing their creativity and innovation in cultivating awareness and catalyzing arts and culture for change.

Prepare to be part of an immersive day of interactive programming that underscores the pivotal role of creativity in promoting community health and well-being. You’ll have the unique opportunity to hear from industry leaders on applying arts and culture to health equity work. Artist presenters will share their campaign stories, from design inception to implementation and the inspiring community outcomes. Engage in panel discussion Q&As, witness live performances, and network at the expo featuring artists and cultural practitioners and the transdisciplinary work created through their campaigns. The expo will be a place of exchange where artists will share their campaign stories and showcase props and materials relating to campaigns, from mobile pop-ups of stories and books to theatrical production props to interactive art-making.

This convening brings people together to center artists and cultural practitioners who contribute to health equity work in our region. Together, we will elevate important cross-sector work and creativity as core drivers of how all communities can thrive.

This convening is free and open to the public. To ensure you receive announcements and updates on Public Impact Day, follow us on Instagram @sdartsculture to stay current.
