Do The Work: Imperial County Overnight
Wednesday, November 13 - Thursday, November 14
This event is postponed until early 2025. If you are interested in getting more information once rescheduled, please contact Maryan Osman.
Imperial County is both the youngest and the least populated county in California, and boasts an area more than twice the square miles of the State of Delaware. Imperial County produces two-thirds of all the vegetables consumed by Americans during the winter. Home to the Salton Sea and an incredibly active renewable energy sector including solar, wind, geothermal and possibly one of the world’s largest lithium deposits.
Join us for an overnight trip to Imperial Valley to learn more about health access, health equity, and health justice. Participants will engage in discussions with local leaders as they navigate through access to hospitals and clinics, the impacts of climate change, and a visit with members of the Quechan Tribe. Attendees will also visit local health clinics and hear from local leaders involved in health quality and climate resiliency work.
Our hotel will be at the Fairfield Inn & Suites El Centro at a group room rate of $189 per night. You can book your room here. For those planning to arrive early or stay late, you can book the evenings of 11/12 and 11/14, in addition to 11/13. Please ensure that the attendee’s name on the booking matches the ID provided at check-in. To reserve over the phone, contact the hotel directly at (760) 353-2600. Reservations must be made by November 8th to receive the group rate and guarantee a room.
More information will be shared in the coming weeks.
Deadline to register for this event is November 1st. If you are interested in this event past the registration deadline, please contact Maryan to learn how you can get tapped into the work in Imperial County.
