California Dignity for Families Fund: Learning Series
Thursday, April 28, 2022 @ 10:00 am
Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) is hosting a monthly roundtable discussion centering invisibilized communities and often neglected topics within the migrant justice movement. All too often, issues of anti-blackness and racism, homophobia and transphobia as well as misogyny and ableism, among others, breed deep misalignment within our movement and bar our collective efforts to transform systems of harm and oppression. Our intention with this 6-month offering is to promote community-building through the powerful tools of political education and public dialogue.
Each webinar will take place on the 4th Thursday of the month at 10am PST/Noon CST/1pm EST. We hope you will join us for the entire journey! The schedule is below:
3/24/2022 | Queerness and Migration
4/28/2022 | Disability Justice and Immigrant Rights
5/26/2022 | US Imperialism and Forced Migration: Africa the Caribbean
6/23/2022 | US Imperialism and Forced Migration: the Americas Asia
7/28/2022 | Transformative Justice
8/25/2022 | Conflict Resolution/Generative Conflict
The California Dignity for Families Fund aims to raise an initial $20 million to help migrant families and unaccompanied children at the U.S.-Mexico border receive urgent humanitarian relief and assistance as they request asylum and resettle in communities throughout the state. Learn more here.
