Event Category:

Philanthropy California

This program is presented through a partnership between Philanthropy California and the California Office of Emergency Services and is funded by the Listos California Grant Program.

To build your vision of a successful project that meets needs in the community, you need to understand how to connect resources (like your organization’s staff, volunteers, funding sources, and more) to program design (the plan for what a grant-funded project will do). In this webinar, we’ll explore the following topics:

  • Program Design
    • Understanding your organization’s capacity
    •  Defining a program
    • Community input in program design
    • Looking for models
    • Designing the program
      • Numbers to be helped or served
      • Methods of service
      • Staff and their qualifications
      • Timeline for building the program
  • Funder Searches
    • Matching funders with community needs
    • Where to learn about funding opportunities: email lists, directories
    • Deciding where to apply with limited resources

Who Should Attend?

Grant writers of small to mid-size community-based organizations, nonprofits, and Tribes. Also welcomed are development, planning, and program staff who want to learn about building grants capacity in your organization. Funders are also welcome to attend to learn more about how their grantees may be struggling to access public funding opportunities.
