Tuyen Nguyen

Tuyen spent years increasing the capacity of individuals and organizations through critical and collaborative work. She has over 10 years of experience developing and managing services in mental health, hospitality, the beauty industry, and higher education. She is excited to transition back to the work she is most passionate about, building power to impact social change. As a young person, her years of experience with hurricane Katrina relief in New Orleans and as a student leader shaped her lens of critical race in America and have driven her to learn, challenge, and grow to work in solidarity with diverse communities. Her years as a professional at UC Santa Barbara established her as a leader and strengthened her administrative skills while challenging her creatively with her journey with food and environmental justice. During her tenure at Santa Barbara, she initiated innovative programs addressing food insecurity by creating successful coalitions across the campus and state, leaving behind strong and robust teams to continue the work. Tuyen is elated to support Catalysts and the Stop the Hate Grantees to create long term change in the county, she now calls home.

Outside of work you can find Tuyen on the soccer fields across the county and on the trails training for her next half marathon or next backpacking adventure.
