COVID-19 and Systemic Inequality: Community-led Lessons for Funders
Tuesday, April 13, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am
Please join us to discuss a new report that focuses on the systemic inequalities that – while magnified during COVID-19 – have always been a reality for marginalized populations, including, but not limited to, those living with or at risk of HIV. Report excerpt: “Our grantees had added stress – immeasurable stress. Living in a nightmarish situation, especially if they were working with immigrants worried that ICE would be looking for them, then overlay police brutality…Staff was getting COVID, dealing with racial unrest, worried about immigration status. We did what we could.”- Executive Director, US HIV/AIDS organization.
The report, commissioned by Funders Concerned About AIDS and the Elton John AIDS Foundation, leverages learnings from community-based responses during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly from organizations representing or led by LGBTQ and communities of color in the US, and key populations globally. FCAA’s goal is to share this report (to launch the week of April 5th) –informed by the resiliency of community-based organizations–to help connect and coordinate the philanthropic response in this critical time. Additional details on speakers and agenda coming soon. If you have questions, please contact [email protected].
