Relational grantmaking invites us to see new possibilities: the kind that emerge when we step back from our usual systems and cycles. This cohort created in partnership with Kinship Fund is for Catalyst members who want to slow down, look up, and explore how their practices can deepen strong, authentic relationships with grantee partners.

Over three sessions, we’ll explore what relational grantmaking looks like in practice. Together, we’ll reflect on the systems, habits, and relationships that shape our work and identify practical ways to better align our grantmaking with the values of trust, equity, partnership, and shared learning.

Designed for foundation leaders and staff who have the opportunity to shape or influence their organization’s grantmaking practices, this cohort welcomes participants from foundations of all sizes.

Our first session will focus on building a shared foundation for the cohort. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of where their organization is today, language to describe both what’s working and where there is room to grow, and the beginning of a peer community where honest conversation is encouraged. Together, we’ll identify practical opportunities to move closer to the kind of grantmaking we aspire to practice. We’ll also shape the direction of future sessions by identifying the topics, meeting schedule, and format that best meet the group’s interests and needs.

A general understanding of Trust-Based Philanthropy is helpful, but if this is a new concept to you, please still join us. We’ll provide resources to help you engage fully.
