DESCRIPTION:- Every ten years the U.S. Constitution mandates a count of every person in the country, making the Census a fundamental piece of our democracy. The data collected influences the allocation of more than $2 trillion in federal funds to states and local communities for critical services and infrastructure projects, including schools, hospitals, roads, and businesses. Additionally, the Census informs how local, county, state, and federal district lines are drawn during the redistricting process, which affect how communities are represented in elections. With California’s population of nearly 40 million people, shifting demographics, and uncertainty on how current federal decisions will affect Census preparation and testing, it is critical for funders to be informed, prepared, and nimble as we plan for the 2030 Census.
